Marcus Patton
Marcus Patton was born in Enniskillen in 1948 and studied architecture at Queen¹s University. His work ranges from pen-and-ink drawings to water-colours, often of architectural subjects, and from concert posters (about four hundred to date, many hand-printed in silk-screen) to caricatures. He is a member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators.

He has illustrated a number of books, and has contributed illustrations to a wide variety of magazines; in 2003 a collection of his musical illustrations was published as The Opera Hat of Sir Hamilton Harty. He became a trustee of the Belfast Print Workshop when it was established as an independant body and was until recently its chairman. He was awarded the OBE in 1995.

Posters have been commissioned from him by among others the BBC, Queens University School of Music, the Early Music Festival at Queens, the Stewart Parker Trust, Castleward Opera and Opera Northern Ireland.

An unusual recent commission was from the American Consulate to provide a poster to mark President Clinton¹s visit to Belfast in 2000.
