Gladys
Maccabe
Gladys Chambers studied at the Belfast College of Art and
married the painter Max Maccabe (born 1917) in 1941. They
exhibited together for the first time in Robinson and Cleavers'
Gallery in 1942. They were members of the Contemporary Ulster
Group which included Daniel O'Neill, George and Arthur Campbell
and Gerard Dillon. Both were talented musicans, he playing
the violin and she the piano and gave popular lectures throughout
Northern Ireland.
