Wilfred
Haughton
Born 1921; died 1999
The son of J Wilfred Haughton C.B.E. and Mafe Haughton
C.B.E., Wilfred Haughton served on the Council of
the RUA since 1946. He was chairman of the committee
that obtained the royal prefix for the RUA. In co-operation
with Mrs Lee Stewart, he inaugurated and formed the
Ulster Watercolour Society. He had numerous exhibitions
in Belfast, Dublin, Limerick, Galway and London. With
the late James H Cathcart, he initiated the Antrim
coast school of painting.
